THE PROJECT
The National Gallery Learning Centre is one of the largest dedicated gallery education spaces in the UK, created to inspire creativity and provide an engaging environment where children and visitors can immerse themselves in art and learning.
Technical arts were chosen as technical partners to develop, supply and install the audio-visual scheme in conjunction with Arup and the Trustees of the National Gallery.
Technical Arts was appointed to design and deliver a comprehensive audiovisual solution that supports the Centre’s educational mission while enhancing the visitor experience. The scheme includes large-format projection systems within communal learning areas, interactive displays in teaching spaces, digital wayfinding and information screens, and fully integrated camera systems to facilitate live and streamed classes. This technology enables the Gallery to extend its educational reach far beyond its physical walls, bringing world-class art education to audiences across the country.
Beyond the Learning Centre itself, we delivered a striking digital totem display positioned externally to create a strong visual presence and provide dynamic visitor information. Housed within a bespoke enclosure designed specifically for the project, the display was engineered to withstand the demands of a public-facing urban environment while maintaining the refined aesthetic expected of a world-renowned cultural institution.
The result is a flexible and future-ready audiovisual environment that supports a wide range of educational activities, encourages engagement and interaction, and helps realise the National Gallery’s vision of making art accessible to the widest possible audience.
